Ronald Jakubisin
– Marketing & Advertising
– With a marketing philosophy that positions clients and their products as the best solutions for the needs of prospects, Ron Jakubisin has helped grow many entrepreneurial companies from an idea to multimillion-dollar enterprises.
Ron got into marketing as a necessity. He studied engineering and finance in college and in his 20’s helped launch a nationwide chain of boat rental companies because he and a few engineer friends chipped in to buy a sailboat. An agreement as to when the boat would be used by each person was drawn up to organize things. They figured that many other people would like the idea of owning a boat on a “time share” basis so Club Nautico was born with a $500 investment in sailing publication classified ads. Ron was chosen as marketing director because the group said he could sell. The first month 34 time shares were sold and in three years the company grew to 78 locations which evolved into a membership rather than a time share for power boats. Outboard Marine offered to buy the company for $12 million because it was helping grow sales of Johnson & Evinrude motors.
Capitalizing on experiences and problem solving learned from building a nationwide company, the agency was founded in 1991 to help other entrepreneurs market and grow their businesses. The first client, a regional car rental firm, billed $478,000 the first year. In the summer of 1992, the firm moved into offices on Lincoln Road, which at the time was undergoing redevelopment. A year later billings surpassed $1 million and the client list boasted several real estate developers, retailers and health care companies.
Growth continued through the 1990’s and 2010’s with the addition of clients such as the Lincoln Road Partnership, Allegiance Group (Dallas based builder of large apartment communities), Gourmet Retailer, J&M Foods, Menin Development, Neilsen (trade publications group), Hertz, Doubletree Hotels, Hilton Hotels, The Streets of Mayfair, Mayfair House Hotel, MCA academy, Miami Conservatory of Music, InterAmerican Car Rental, SAV (Southern Audio Visual), Red-Sunset Merchants Association, Downtown Himmarshee Village, Cyril’s Bakery, Aloha Chiller, Barakat Law, Marchena & Graham Law, GG’s Waterfront, Runyon’s of Coral Springs, Offerdahl’s and some of South Florida’s most popular chefs (Allen Susser, Nick Morfogen, Norman Van Aiken, Peter Boulukos) and other restauranteurs. The Restaurant People, which own and operates YOLO, Tarpon Bend, Township, S3 and Boatyard in Fort Lauderdale are the longest-term client (on the roster for 21 years). The average client has been with the agency 10 years.
The agency has a policy of seeking clients in different categories to maintain a creative edge, thereby providing stimulus for the creative team and to offer clients expertise for problem solving learned in other areas of marketing. Creative focus is on finding unique advantages each client has that will connect with their customer base and promoting that effectively through appropriate marketing channels to the target audience.
Ron lives in Hollywood, Florida, is an avid traveler, loves Mixed Martial Arts and relaxing with friends or gardening and carpentry projects on his 1924 Mission Rival home in his personal time.
